Alright, so that photo isn't so flattering, but I really don't care. I'm not here to show off what I look like, but I did want to write out exactly what I do every time I go out- that makes my skin/face look how it looks all of the time. Seeing myself without makeup is like looking into the face of a naturally blotchy, uneven Irish recluse with a face full of freckles.
Anyway! So. On facebook, I sometimes get compliments on my skin- and how it looks smooth or how it looks clear and pretty and wah wah I don't want to go on flattering myself. I really appreciate all of the compliments! I do! I wish my skin looked like that all of the time, because I wouldn't even bother with makeup. But if you're curious or you're tired of looking around for cosmetics that don't work the way that you want them to, or if you're too nervous to try something new (let's face it, makeup isn't a necessity and it can be stupid expensive)- you can read through and see the things I use. I've been using the same basic routine for at least two years now, and I stick to the exact same products, too. BUT ANYWAY. Before I start rambling, I'll list off all of the products I use, first.
Blush (1): "Classic Blush Large Synthetic" I purchase my blush brushes from Coastal Scents (www.coastalscents.com) I actually purchase a lot of cosmetics from Coastal Scents. I'll let you know why, in a bit.
Blush (2): "Classic Blush Angle Small Synthetic" also from Coastal Scents. I love these so much. I love angled blush brushes, especially if you're a bronzer girl and you like to angle your cheekbones to give yourself a more sculpted face.
Brows: "Classic Liner Angle Synthetic" This is a liner/brow brush (also from Coastal Scents), it's super handy and versatile, but I use them mainly for my eyebrows.
Eyeshadow/Brow-Lining!
Eye-Shadow & Brow-Lining: "Mirage Palette" this is from Coastal Scents, too! Seriously, this site is incredible.
Blush!
Blush: "10 Blush Palette" guess... Yea, this is from Coastal Scents, too!
Lash Curler!
Just a cheap Revlon lash curler that I found at Target. Prices on these don't really matter. No matter how much you pay for them, they all have the potential to rip your eyelashes painfully off of your friggin' lids.
Mascara!
Skyrise Mascara by NYC. It's cheap and it's for length- which is what I usually get. (Actually, I usually like to get one mascara for volume and another for length, but lately I've been sticking to this shit because it's A+, and cheap)
Primer! (IT'S IMPORTANT, SERIOUSLY)
Pixi Brightening primer. (This is the most expensive part of my cosmetic routine. Shit costs about $35 for a bottle, but on the bright side, I usually only use one bottle every three months- it only takes a couple drops for this stuff to do it's job: and it really does do a miracle- you'll understand what I mean, in a minute.)
Foundation!
Covergirl Aquasmooth in porcelain. This is my GODSEND- and a friend of mine actually turned me onto this. (Thank you so much, Squid, this shit is my crack/cocaine, now.)
About Coastal Scents and why it's awesome:
Coastal Scents is a website that sells reasonably priced cosmetics, cosmetic cleansers, cosmetic supplies and etc. When I say reasonably priced, I mean that you could spend 100$ at coastal scents and walk away with a literal beauty banquet. Everything is so cheap and so high quality. They specialize in 'duping' MAC colors (they don't claim this but a lot of youtube users have found a lot of colors can match pretty well with the highly priced MAC shades- and that's what makes them awesome.) Every girl should be aware of MAC- the cosmetic giants of our world. At any rate, Coastal Scents palettes are high-pigmented, which is a fancy way of saying "this shit is going to rock my face into the stars of awesome." The Mirage Palette and the Blush Palette that I purchased is seriously the only thing I will ever use, ever again. If I could own every palette they've made so far, I would. The 88 color palettes are mailed to you, and the first thing you'll say when you open them is "holy hell, the colors are so tiny!" It's true, the pots in the palette are about the size of a dime, but after owning my palette for two years- I've yet to run out of one color. Everything is that awesome. You only need a little bit to make it work, and that's what I love about them so much. QUALITY OVER PRICE, MAN. For all of us working girls who still want to look good for a date/party/night out/etc. I can't even tell you how many times I've bought eyeshadows/blushes before this website- I was disappointed almost every time. I'm picky with my pigments. Please God check them out, you won't regret it: www.coastalscents.com *
*Coastal Scents never asked me to advertise for them or anything. I just love the hell out of their products, so.
AT ANY RATE! MY ROUTINE!
Step 1: Apply Pixi Primer
This is how my skin turns out looking as smooth as it does. I take a couple drops of the product and I smooth it over my face with my fingertips, and if I plan on wearing eyeshadow- I dab a very tiny bit of it on my lids and smooth it there, too. Primer basically lays a steady base for everything else that you plan on putting on your face. It makes everything seem that much more seamless: and your makeup will also last longer- so primer is a great investment.

Step 2: Apply foundation
I use the sponge in the Aquasmooth thingy to put my foundation on. I don't like getting my hands all gunked up with foundation and for some reason I like working with the sponge better. A lot of people will tell you that working the foundation in with your skins will help emulsify the foundation into your skin because of the heat from your fingertips. Whatever works for you is awesome, go for it!
Step 3: Line/Shape brows
This is really hard to describe with text- but what I basically do is I dab a color in my palette that matches my eyebrows with my small angled brush- and I line the top and bottom of my brows- and then I fill them in. I know that's a lame description- but it's an easy thing to do. I thought I looked hella weird the first time I lined my brows- but now I really like it. It fills my face out- and you can completely change the way your face looks by angling your brows a certain way (fact).
Step 4: Curl Lashes
I curl my lashes 10 times, 5x for each lash, twice. I pump the lash curler five times on both lashes, twice. Curling your lashes opens up your eyes and makes them look bigger, and I really like big eyes so I try to do that.
Step 5: Apply Mascara
I apply my mascara to both my bottom and top lashes, I move my mascara wand in a horizontally back-and-forth motion, because it works the product in better. So basically it's "left-right-left-right, lift". Blahhh, everyone has their own way of doing it, maybe I'll do a video one day.
Step 6: Apply Blush
So, first I take my big round blush brush and I apply a light color to the apples of my cheeks and up against my cheekbones- and then I take my angular blush brush and apply a darker shade against the contour of my cheekbone so that it looks a little more natural and shaded.
AND THAT'S IT. I SUCK.
